December Photo Project

Like last year, we are going to participate in the December Photo Project. Basically, we will post a picture each day showing off what we are doing. I like that it forces us to be creative even on the "boring" days.

Day 1 Photo

For the last two years we have come back from our Thanksgiving trip with a big bag of hand me down clothes from Ginette's sister Suzanne. This is the army of shoes that we raked in this year.

Day 2

Day 2 of the December Photo Project

Today I got to visit one of my company's primary product distribution centers. It was amazing to see all the behind the scenes action that takes place to keep a store in stock. The warehouse is over 300,000 sqaure feet which was staggering to me, but "small" (I am told) but retail standards. I posted a few more pictures in a Flickr set if you are interested.

Day 3

Day 3 of the December Photo Project

Dayla has gotten into the habit of throwing everything she can into the bathtub while it is still filling with water. We now have to close the bathroom door when we are getting it ready. Last night I caught her staring at her plush hand puppet frog floating in the bubbles. While I was pulling it out she had already run out of the room to her toy basket and was grabbing her other plush frog. While I applaud her for understanding frogs' aquatic nature, I had to instruct her not to put them in the bath.

This is a picture of the frog after he took a dip. Notice his matted fur.

Day 4

Day 4 of the December Photo Project

Dayla rocking her hood. It really doesn't get that cold here in San Diego but we use the sub-70 degree weather as an excuse to bust out the winter gear.

Day 6

Day 6 of the December Photo Project

I took this picture in a supermarket in Pico Rivera, CA. One of the employees chased after me and told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures in the store. I wrestled him to the ground, pinned his arm behind his back and took non-stop pictures of him until he burst into tears. Those pictures turned out pretty good too but I am only allowed to post one picture per day for the December Photo Project so you'll just have to trust me.

Day 7

Day 7 of the December Photo Project

Dayla loves hanging out with her cousin James whenever we visit Whittier. This is a rare moment where they shared a seat on a rock.

Day 8

Day 8 of the December Photo Project

Our good friends Justin and Beth moved to Austria earlier this year. Since then we have made every effort to not erase this nice little note Beth wrote to us on our kitchen whiteboard right before she left.

Day 9

Day 9 of the December Photo Project

Dayla loves putting on and taking off bracelets ever since her Grandma showed her how. Last night she pulled out a bunch of baby legs from her drawer and wanted me to put them on her arms. She proudly wore them around the house for the next hour and kept them on during our trip to the supermarket. She was quite a site running down the aisles screaming with joy at the top of her lungs in pink pants, a blue tank top, and these multi-colored legwarmers on her arms.

Day 11

Day 11 of the December Photo Project

(Ginette here...)

I used to hate having Christmas decorations up before my birthday. What can I say? I have grown up I suppose. This year I put up Christmas decorations, built a "gingerbread" house and played Christmas music non-stop days before my birthday. Today I am appreciating the holiday...

Day 13

Day 13 of the December Photo Project

Dayla loves to read. I love that she loves it. What a kid. She can be in a full-tearful-I-hate-you cry and I can say, "Do you want to read a book?" and she'll stop and say "book?" with tearfilled eyes. What a kid.

Day 14

Day 14 of the December Photo Project

We had a completely unscheduled day yesterday which was rare and nice. We decided to use our passes and make a quick run to the zoo. The dreary weather made for an empty zoo. It's great having the petting zoo all to yourself or looking at the polar bears with only 6 other people.

The picture below is of a bird that wasn't actually part of an exhibit. He was hanging out on top of an animal's cage just scoping out the scene. He flew off soon after I took this shot. I think it is some sort of falcon but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

Day 15

Day 15 of the December Photo Project

Last night was our 4th annual Young Marrieds Christmas party. This is a group of families we attend a weekly bible study with. There is food, a gift exchange, and lots of toddlers running around. I didn't get a ton of pictures this year since I was helping out with Dayla and MCing the gift exchange.

In the picture below Dayla has managed to turn just two long strands of beads into multiple necklaces.

Mom's Christmas Party...

This isn't technically my picture, (thank you Kristy) but I had to share this moment. On Monday all of the mom's that I hang out with got together for a small Christmas party. It was a blast...and made realize how blessed I am to have such a wonderful group of mom's. Thanks ladies.

Day 18-22 of the December Photo Project

We suck. Christmas is busy and we haven't been posting. Here is day 18-22 (in no particular order) plus a few more pictures. We are up in Whittier for the week celebrating Christmas with my family.

Day 23

Day 23 of the December Photo Project

My Dad's dog Summer loses her places as #1 when Dayla is around.

Day 24

Day 24 of the December Photo Project

Whittier, the city I grew up in, recently converted an abandoned railroad track into a pedestrian and bike path called the Whittier Greenway Trail. We've always wanted to walk on it but just got our first chance this trip.

This section of the trail is a converted rail bridge over a busy intersection. Notice the metal artwork that looks like wind chimes.

Day 25

Day 25 of the December Photo Project

My parents have stockings for all the kids and grandkids. The focus is on quantity, not quality, when it comes to stocking presents. No offense Mom and Dad.

This year I got a Shrek pen, 3 packs of gum, a pack of batteries, a stick of beef jerky, snap caps, a cheap foam dart gun, a corkscrew and the "Operation Iraqi Freedom" lighter you see below.

I suspect my Dad had too much time to kill in the car wash gift shop.
