As many of you know, Dayla has the privilege of having 4 baby friends that were all born within a couple weeks of her. This is a blast for us…but in August it equaled “1st Birthday Party Madness.” In fact 3 of the parties were all on the same Saturday at different times! I am proud to say that we made it to all 3 parties. The weekend after was Dayla’s 1st birthday party. Here is a record of the events. It was a blast and we are so blessed. (If you are good at math you are wondering why we only attended 3 parties. This is because Dayla’s friend Haley lives in Austria. Although we were invited to her party too, we decided to pass due to the long flight and all.)
Ethan as birthday boy.
Dayla found a lawnmower to play with at Ethan’s. Doesn’t she look like she needs a beer in her hand too?
Yzzy as birthday girl.
The activity at Yzzy’s party was finger painting. It was wicked awesome! (Kaitlyn pictured)
Ellie as birthday girl.
At Ellie’s party Dayla found some shades. Looking cool, looking cool.

Dayla celebrated her first birthday today! Although her official birthday party will be Saturday, I wanted to bake a birthday cake so I could have uninterrupted photo craziness. I was inspired by Daniel’s cousin who took pictures of her son for his first birthday (also August!) Thanks Eva!
So here is Dayla on her birthday, in her birthday suit, meeting her first birthday cake.
First off, little Logan (the inspiration)
The first birthday cake I have ever made, not yet aware of its opponent.

Just one taste should suffice.
Want to taste Dad?
Am I all done?
Just one more lick!
Last Saturday we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. To celebrate, we piggybacked a vacation on to a destination wedding outside of Vancouver, Canada for our friends Dave and Jody. It was a great second honeymoon trip since Grandma Sundin watched Dayla in LA for us. A few pictures of the trip are posted below. If you would like to see them all click on the link at the bottom of the post.

A picture of us on the balcony of our hotel overlooking Vancouver. We used a couch tripod for this shot.
The below pictures are courtesy of Grandma Sundin. She sent these to us while we were on our trip to reassure us that Dayla was being well cared for.

I get all this!?!?
What is this thing? Mom never gave me one of these.

11 months has come and gone. 1 year here we come.
The newspaper picture. Dayla ripped it off the wall .5 seconds after I took this picture. She can now “cruise” by holding onto objects and walking. She can even stand for a few seconds by herself as long as she isn’t paying attention.
She loves to climb into and onto things. However, she isn’t very good at getting out or down.
We bought a bike trailer off Craig’s List a few weeks ago. Surprisingly, Dayla prefers to climb in and out of it while it is parked on our balcony just like it is her own personal playhouse. She also likes to smash her face against the side.
Dayla loves the bath and the pool. Occasionally she spends too much time in there as you can tell from her wrinkly foot.
